Hello creator,
Thanks for making a thing for me. I've made a list of general prompts and likes below, but I should underscore that you shouldn't feel too constrained by them. I absolutely love both of these canons to pieces, and I'm thrilled at the prospect of receiving something for either of them.
General Likes: angst; bittersweetness (I honestly am a fan of a lot of sweet and lighthearted stuff, but I like it even more when it's framed by a dark past or future); character death (particularly examinations of canonical character death); complex family relationships; hurt/comfort; illness and injury; found families; non-kinky explorations of pregnancy, childbirth, and parenthood; religious, mythological, and/or plant-based symbolism; whump
Art Likes: detailed, busy backgrounds; funky/surreal use of colors and exaggeration (Feel free to go full Amano style for FF6); yet even more religious, mythological, and/or plant-based symbolism
Go For It (stuff that isn't really a like, but I'd be game for if it's what inspires you): AUs; crossovers between requested canons; crossovers with canonical basis (ex: FFT and FF7); interactive fiction
Do Not Wants: ageplay; incest written as being consensual and non-maladaptive; omegaverse; pregnancy-related kinks; scat; watersports
I love how this game ends on such a simultaneously bleak and hopeful note and how enmeshed it is with themes of found family, parenthood, and survival. It's like an operatic, pixelated tribute to flowers that grow through the cracks in the concrete and rebuilding when it seems like there's nothing to rebuild. I'm a massive angst hound in every conceivable way, but this is one of those canons where I'm pretty open to light-hearted takes and
Cyan/Sabin: I only recently was introduced to this ship and I immediately fell in love with it. I'd love pretty much anything with it, but I'd be particularly interested in stories that explore the way the two men process their grief together, how they rebuild their lives in the world of ruin, how a relationship between them might form in the first place, and/or how they might interact (separately or as a couple) with characters like Lola or Duncan. In terms of art, I'd love anything with the two of them just hanging out or possibly sparring. Certain trains appearing and/or getting supplexed would also be great.
Gau: Gau is one of my underrated faves, and I'm sad that the game doesn't give us more of him. I'd enjoy stories that look at what his life was as an even younger Gau chilling with his presumed monster family, what his life might be like as an older Gau who has adapted to civilization, and--of course--anything to do with him processing the fallout with his crazy dad. Artwise, I'd dig anything with him chilling with monsters, and being generally bad at everyday human tasks.
Cyan/Sabin + Gau: If you want to do something with the whole group, I would be completely psyched for any look at a feral kid going about his day to day life with his samurai and marital artist dads.
I love how this game just keeps piling on the tragedy in every way humanly possible and how it manages to continually blur the lines between heroes and villains with very few exceptions. Do not be afraid to continue heaping on angst upon anything you compose for this canon. I cannot imagine you will reach any threshold for angst I might have as regards this beautiful sepia-toned downer of a War of the Roses retelling.
Dycedarg & Zalbag: The Beoulves are pretty much my favorite dysfunctional video game family, and I love these two trainwrecks in particular. I'm incredibly interested in their relationship outside of military/political maneuvering, why Zalbag implicitly trusts Dycedarg so much, and what its like for them to have spent their entire lives in the shadow of the Fifty Years War. I'd also really love stuff exploring Zalbag's frequently mentioned religious devotion, Dycedarg's apparently really well known poisonous plants hobby, and whatever the actual family story is regarding Balbanes' never really mentioned wife and subsequent mistress. In fic and in art, it would be cool to see a depiction of them when they were younger, either as a kid/youth growing up at Igros or as young men in the war. Bonus points for any art featuring completely extra symbolic use of goats.
Wiegraf & Miluda: The Folles siblings, Wiegraf in particular, really have one of the best composed tragic narratives of the game, but its a shame that despite their very significant remarks regarding one another, you never actually see them interact directly. Like the older Beoulve bros, I'm curious as to what their lives were like outside of their role in the various conflicts they participate in, what the dynamics might have been like with regards to Miluda joining the Death Knights (given that their age gap probably meant she joined the army later than her brother), and anything about their life as commoners outside of their life as soldiers. As with the older Beoulves, I'd be thrilled by any depictions of them at a younger age. Bonus points for any art featuring completely extra symbolic use of sheep.
Dycedarg & Zalbag + Wiegraf & Miluda: They were all in the same war, and if you can jam all four of them into one composition of any sort, I would be utterly ecstatic.
