I continue to exist. I deleted my tumblr at long last and may yet escape bluesky and re-escape reddit (I'm down to social media use being limited to three days a week). The past seven and a half months have been very full, with the highlights being that I am now a regular abortion clinic escort, I got my amateur radio license, and I'm training for a marathon. I've also taken up linocut, written a few fics, made a few cakes, seen the local salamanders migrate, successfully brewed and intoxicated myself on dandelion wine, semi-accidentally gone vegan, obtained a 3D printer, participated in a few parades and marches, experimented with natural dying, joined the local group that pulls invasive weeds in the park, and joined a few book clubs.

Also. Final Fantasy Tactics is apparently getting a remaster or something, and I feel about as one would expect.

(It unfortunately comes out 5 days before the previously mentioned marathon tho. X_X)

I thought of you when they announced the remaster! Glad things are going alright for you. Linocut seems fun; definitely want to give it a try too at some point.

I was a complete dweeb the day of the announcement. I had to try to finagle pre-ordering mid city council meeting, and it was very comedic. Also, linocut is one of the most soothing artforms I've encountered. You just stim at a brick of substance until you are able to enjoy a print. :]

Thanks. I didn't used to be this way, but something mid-grad-school seems to have just flipped an extroversion switch in my brain. It's a lot of fun.

While I don't regret my experience on the whole, I feel it's standard post matriculation advice to recommend that nobody ever ever ever do that (It's very stressful. You come to hate words and thinking. You write the absolute worst book imaginable.)

Hmm, well, I don't think I could have stood any more 'schooling' in any case, ha ha

(I was a smart, but school-disliking student for many years (all of middle school, all of high school). "But she's so smart," some of my aunts and uncles might say, but they had no idea of the full story... :(). College was actually the first time I liked school again!

I guess I practice another form of natural dying all the time, as I gradually moulder towards becoming my best skeletonself...

However, I meant to comment on my recent attempts to incentivize my ongoing slaughter of invasive buckthorn by dunking samples of wool yarn in various concoctions and potions made out of my victims.

A group of local irl friends in November 2024 (We're all American) started a "hopecore" book club that has been group-selected titles on practical activism, speculative fiction about a better future, etc... and it's been a really nice background activity to have going on while we all do our best to remain active and engaged in the present moment.

I'm going to have to vibrate my way through 26.2 miles before I can fully commit to enjoying it, but DANG. What a great year to be me!

Also, the dandelion wine I sampled when it was young was both delicious and functionally intoxicating. A big yum indeed.
