I have a small , world's tiniest violin amount of sympathy for Feist given that the storyline of the books had already advanced by so many years at the point where BaK was made, so fitting in a new prominent character retroactively would have been awkward.
Buuut, when comparing the game with the novelisation it's also really really obvious he just really doesn't like this character and doesn't want him to steal literally any amount of spotlight from his established faves, and put him on a bus accordingly. Why you'd want to write the novelisation at all with that attitude, I have no idea.
