Escaping Utah, Making Cocktails
Witness another attempt to actually get back to posting here on the regular.
Just got back from an arduous arduous trip (delays! airsickness! lost car keys!) to see my youngest sibling wed. Despite my present vow to never go anywhere for any reason ever again, it was pretty nice when I was actually attending the event. I managed to see a ton of relations I hadn't encountered for a long while, enjoyed the requisite dancing/drinking, and generally had a pleasant time until the dire state of Utah did everything in its power to trap me within it. I escaped, however, and I can now enjoy suffering under the Heat Dome as I reconsider the decision of my ancestors to emerge from the primordial sea
Prior to this, the past half year of me not posting has honestly been pretty slow. I'm chipping away at a few books. I run and write when I can. I gave one very brisk conference talk and have mostly just continued settling down into the relative calm of non-academic life. I've also started to take glorious advantage of my local library's STEAM lab in the interest of various projects and schemes. One of my most most recent (posted about elsewhere has been 3D printing the object files for weapons from Vagrant Story, coating them in food safe resin, and then using them as picks for the cocktails they are named for. (Witness a fandango with a Fandango in it and a Diki-Diki garnished diki-diki.)

Eeek at the travel drama, but glad it was mostly fun.

Since I've become unfortunately familiar with the SLC airport in recent years, I'm assuming it was a star player in your travel woes.

I survived, though! And I'm gradually doing my best to erase the less-than-stellar aspects of the weekend from memory.

Dangit, Utah, calm down.
